How to Play Texas 42 (archived 1955 Rules)

The former Embossing Company's Texas 42 domino set with rules booklet and score pad

NOTES:

1. This 23-page booklet (right) was included in special edition boxes of dominos produced by The Embossing Company, Albany, N.Y., circa 1955. I found no information on its author, Richard Wall, other than a 1961 newspaper article.

2. According to my research, The Embossing Company in Albany, NY, was purchased by Halsam in 1955. Halsam was purchased by Playskool who later were absorbed by Milton Bradley, which was ultimately acquired by Hasbro. The best that I have been able to determine is that the document is now in the public domain.

3. The rules in this document were published prior to the public internet and the founding of the National 42 Players Association (N42PA). Bidding and playing strategies have changed somewhat over the years, but most modern day players still adhere to the core principles contained in the document.

4. Thanks to Dennis Roberson and donor Edward Dotson for bringing this 60+ year old publication forward for sharing with the 42 community.
